Best Customization Apps to Totally Revamp Your Android

I consider my OnePlus 8 Pro like a canvas, where I can spill my creativity through customization, unlike some other platforms (looking at you, iOS).

Android gives you the freedom to personalize it according to your liking. Whether you want a clean, minimalist interface, or a vibrant one, customization apps can help you create a device that’s not just functional, but truly yours.

With so many options out there, where do you even begin?

Don’t worry, as I’ve done the legwork for you and brought here only the best apps to completely revamp your Android experience.

So, without further ado, let’s dive right into them.

Launcher Applications

The launcher is like the face of any smartphone through which you interact the most, and upgrading it can transform your phone’s look and feel entirely. This is how you start if you don’t like your current launcher.

Nova Launcher

This is my favorite of the bunch and I am currently using it on my Android. Nova Launcher is great for customizing the interface of your phone, allowing you to tweak nearly every aspect of your home screen like layouts, animations, app icons, gestures, app drawers, and more.

It won’t be an exaggeration to say that you can customize almost everything that you can think of, on your Android homescreen. It’s just that great!

This launcher is perfect for someone who craves versatility, and isn’t afraid to dig into settings to create the perfect setup.

Niagara Launcher

If you prefer minimalism, I can bet you will fall in love with this launcher.

Niagara Launcher’s streamlined design puts your most-used apps front and center for quick access. So, no more distraction, only cutting to the chase.

It is a little simpler for my liking, but it would be heavenly for fans of simplicity who don’t want clutter on their home screen.

Icon Packs & Widgets

Sometimes small changes, like tweaking your icons or adding widgets, can make a huge difference. If you want to have that control and difference, personalize your device with unique icons and functional widgets that suit your style through the following widgets and icon packs.

KWGT Kustom Widget Maker

A colleague at work recommended KWGT, and I love it. This app lets you create custom widgets for clocks, weather forecasts, calendars, and more — perfect for those who love one-of-a-kind designs. You can also find a gazillion custom KWGT widget packs on the Play Store, some with their own unique additions.

Icon Changer

This is another great icon customization tool. It helps you customize your app icons and even rename them for a fully personalized look. I give it some extra credit for its user-friendly interface, but it is still not as good as KWGT.

Zedge for Ringtones and Wallpapers

I have been using this app since I got my first smartphone. Zedge offers wallpapers and a massive library of ringtones and notification sounds, which can help you make your device stand out.

I have noticed that this app takes a lot of bandwidth, so it is better to connect with a reliable internet like Xfinity while using it. You can upgrade your internet by dialing Xfinity phone number and talking to their customer support team.

The only (but major) downside I see of this app is the ad-part. Many of them pop up right on your face as you try to download a ringtone or wallpaper.

Keyboard Customization

Typing on your smartphone is something you do every single day, so why not make it both functional and fun? The following keyboard apps not only enhance your typing experience, but also allow you to express your style.

Gboard

It is Google’s own keyboard app, so you can expect a refined design loaded with themes, GIFs, multilingual typing, and voice input. Plus, it integrates Google’s search engine right into the keyboard, which comes in really handy for me.

SwiftKey

The reason why this keyboard app made it to my list is that it is powered by AI. It adapts to your unique typing style, and offers predictive text suggestions that actually work. It helps you be efficient when you are in a hurry, and you want to reply to an important email, which for me is awesome.

System-Wide Customization Tools

Do you want to customize beyond your home screen? System-wide customizations give you control over deeper settings and allow for advanced tweaks.

Good Lock (Samsung Devices)

I have used it in the past on my Samsung Galaxy S21+ and it is really cool. This Samsung-exclusive suite lets you customize everything from your lock screen to your navigation bar. It is tailor-made for Samsung fans who want fine-tuned control over their devices.

LineageOS

It is made for tech-savvy users who like to take risks with their smartphones. This custom ROM offers a clean Android experience with extensive customization options. It is perfect for users wanting full control over their operating system.

My Favorite of the Bunch

I have been a Samsung user for six years. I love the One UI (Samsung’s skin for its Android), and the customization it offers. But what truly unlocks the customization of my Samsung mobile is Good Lock. It is my favorite app for customizing the looks of my phone.
