Coaching Career

Nicholas Saban had no intention of being a coach until he was employed by Don James to be a graduate assistant at Kent University. Saban agreed to the deal, as he waited for his wife to graduate from the University.

Saban went on to serve as the assistant coach for NCAA Division I-A and at several other schools from 1977 to 1987. After the 1987 season, he was not hired as the head coach at Kent State. The chance was given to Dick Crum, and he was hired as an assistant for Houston Oilers in NFL.

Saban went on to coach in the NFL, being the coach for various teams like the Miami Dolphins in the 2005 to 2006 season, and Alabama from 2007 to 2024. He has been recognized for his huge efforts, especially at the University of Alabama. The University of Alabama named the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium after Saban in 2024.

Personal Life
